David Cash works at Newport News Shipbuilding (NNS) as the manager for the Department of Naval Architecture and Weight Engineering (E42).  He is a third-generation Newport News Shipbuilding employee, whose father and grandfather worked there.  He graduated from Virginia Tech in 2004 with a B.S. in Ocean Engineering and is working towards an M.S. in Engineering Management from George Washington University.  He has served on the AOE Advisory Board since 2016. 

David manages a department that ​provides leadership in naval architecture and weight engineering services for NNS design and construction activities.  This includes support of the design and new construction of Ford Class Aircraft Carriers, planning yard oversight of the stability status of Los Angeles Class Submarines, ship repair, overhaul, and inactivation of Nimitz Class Aircraft Carriers, and construction and maintenance of Virginia Class Submarines.  Additionally, they support research and development initiatives for future classes of both submarines and aircraft carriers.   

He is an active member of the Society of Allied Weight Engineers (SAWE) and the Society of Naval Architects and Marine Engineers (SNAME).

He lives in Newport News, VA with his wife, Jesi, and they have 3 children, Lily, Emma, and Brody.
