As Division Director for Future Ships and Force Architecture, Mierzwicki manages 05D1 staff and provide technical leadership on multiple projects developing requirements, concepts and force architectures for the USN. This currently includes the Future Surface Combat Force, DDG(X), Future Amphibious Force, MPF(X), T-ACS(X), NGLS AoA, UxS Motherships, MUSV, DDG51 Capability Upgrades, LPD and LHA Capability Upgrades, DDG Flight Upgrades, and Navy High Performance Digital Computing Design Tools.

As study director for the ongoing Future Surface Combatant Force (FSCF) Analysis of Alternatives and subsequent Offensive Surfaces AOA, he has led national teams of engineers and analysts to shape the Navy’s surface combatant manned and unmanned ship portfolio through the 2040’s.

  • Manage and steward 05D1 staff and provide technical direction and leadership on future ships and force architecture projects that develop requirements, design and operational concepts and force architectures for the USN.
  • Provide Senior Technical leadership and Stewardship for SEA05 on all Future Surface Ships projects and ensure NAVSEA provides technical support for ship concepts, future force architecture generation and analysis to CNO, SECNAV, USMC, OSD and other non-DOD Federal entities when required.
  • Represent SEA05D Sr. Technical Authority and Technical Authority for Advanced Surface Ship Concepts and Future Force Architectures.
  • Provide direct leadership and sponsorship to the Surface Ship Innovation Initiative (SSII) Program, the Naval Advanced Concepts and Tools (NACT) Program, Collaborative Enduring Concepts and Tools (COLLECT) project, The Center for Innovation and Ship Design, and CREATE Ships Program.
  • Assess and manage organization capability health to meet the mission and needs of the USN.
