Certification for Robust Cognitive Control Autonomous Vehicles Countering Cyber Attack

PI: Dr. Jon Black

Challenge. NAVAIR 4.0P certifies CYBERSAFE compliance of naval aircraft in addition to their airworthiness, including mitigation of cyberattacks. The ability of cyberattacks to cause physical harm presents unique airworthiness challenges for organizations including NAVAIR. Unmanned and manned vehicles in a dynamic and interconnected system of systems must be certified for operation in a contested environment, meaning they must operate through cyberattacks.

Goals. Implement a cognitive management engine (CME) and autonomous online system identification (ID) to mitigate impacts and continue operation of systems experiencing physical impacts of cyberattacks (or both physical and non-physical impacts).
