Abstract: The Aerospace Corporation runs the Department of Defense’s Federally Funded Researchand Development Center (FFRDC) that serves as a trusted advisor to the U.S. Air Force/Space Force, National Security Intelligence Community, the Civilian agencies, and International partners for the U.S. space Enterprise. Aerospace is the technical advisor to government on complex space enterpriseproblems – providing disciplinary continuity, unique capabilities, and foundational knowledge to shape this new era of space. The presentation will introduce Aerospace and how our unique role in the space industry is shaping the domain’s future. The research and development efforts supporting certification of the next generation of launch vehicles, GNSS receiver development and CubeSat technology demonstrations will be presented. Aerospace’s research and development capabilities, and resultant analyses, help guide our customer’s acquisition of future systems that span the space enterprise. The talk will conclude with a discussion of the unique career paths and opportunities available at The Aerospace Corporation.

Bio: Dr. John Janeski is the Director of the Digital Communication Implementation Department at The Aerospace Corporation. His department develops novel wireless communication and PNT systems for applications across military and civilian sectors. His expertise centers around the development, testing and integration of Positioning, Navigation and Timing (PNT) systems. Dr. Janeski has supported the Military GPS User Equipment (MGUE) program, providing technical leadership for the development and platform integration of modernized GPS receivers. His support to the MGUE program enabled the first successful flight test of a modernized receiver. Additionally, he has served on certification and independent assessment teams to help multiple launch vehicle contractors qualify and integrate GPS receivers into their vehicle navigation systems. Dr. Janeski received his B.S. degree in Physics from Rhodes College and his PhD in Aerospace and Ocean Engineering from Virginia Tech.
