Faculty and Research

Our faculty are innovative, highly collaborative, and global leaders. From the mechanics of space flight to autonomous subsea navigation to the behavior of drones, our graduate students work alongside faculty advisors to enrich and push the boundaries of our field. Research Facilities

Faculty and students in the department are conducting word-class research, and we have the facilities and resources to support them. Our experimental facilities, which are equipped with advanced instrumentation and high-performance computing resources, include

Blacksburg is a small town nestled in the New River Valley located in Southwest Virginia. There is always something to do in every season, whether it is hiking at the Cascades, visiting the Blacksburg Farmer's Market, taking in a baseball game, or simply enjoying the view. There is much to explore in the New River Valley and many opportunities to enjoy life outside of the lab.
