Many current aircraft are presented. The index can be used to locate the year in which other aircraft are described. Before the aircraft are described, a section reviewing the events of the year and important first flights is presented.
Society of Allied Weight Engineers: International Journal, Robert Johnston, Executive Secretary, S.A.W.E., 344 West 'J' Street, Chula Vista, CA 91910. A lot of information not available anywhere else. They publish a directory to all S.A.W.E. papers.
Aircraft Design, An International Journal, This is a relatively new journal, edited by two of the best known aircraft design educators in the world. The first issues show great promise.
Air International, a monthly magazine (British) which typically profiles at least one aircraft in each issue, with cutaway drawings. For subscription information write Air International, PO Box 353, Whitestone, NY 11357.
Flight International, this is a British magazine published weekly.
Interavia, this is Swiss (really international) magazine published monthly.
Aviation Week and Space Technology, it is assumed that all designers read this weekly magazine.
Aerospace America, a general monthly magazine of the AIAA. Contains meeting programs and schedules.
Aerospace Engineering, a very good magazine describing both overall system developments and advances in technologies for components. Published by the SAE.
Aeronautical Journal, the magazine of the Royal Aeronautical Society. Most libraries subscribe to this magazine. It appears about ten times a year. Frequently contains worthwhile articles on design.
AIAA Student Journal, AIAA's journal for students. Frequently contains good overviews by noted aerospace engineers.
Journal of Aircraft, AIAA's journal for aircraft. Published 6 times a year.
AAHS Journal, American Aviation Historical Society, 2333 Otis, Santa Ana, CA 92704, (714) 549-4818. Case studies/descriptions of aircraft development programs.
World Air Power Journal, Aerospace Publishing Ltd., London. Published quarterly, each issue contains a profile of a significant military aircraft. Brief examinations of other aircraft are also included in each issue. The journal is magnificently done. The color photography is spectacular, and there is a tremendous emphasis on detail and accuracy.
