PLEASE REFER TO THE HOKIE SPA UNDER TIMETABLE OF CLASSES "IMPORTANT DATES AND REGISTRATION INFORMATION." SEE THE FINAL EXAM SCHEDULE AT WWW.REGISTRAR@VT.EDU, "GENERAL INFORMATION". ALSO, REFER TO THE "UNDERGRADUATE CATALOG" FOR INFORMATION.

CLASS ATTENDANCE

Virginia Tech has a class attendance policy. Class meetings are an integral part of most courses and are the central component of many. Students and faculty are expected to attend class at all regularly scheduled times, except for cancellations announced on a university wide basis by the appropriate authority. When students cannot attend a class, it is their responsibility, as soon as possible, to consult with the course instructor about missed work or tests. In case of absences for health reasons (see Medical Excuses) students should consult with Schiffert Health Center. The Health Center will work with the dean's office to notify the student's professors of the reason for the absence. For family or personal emergencies, students should consult with Dean of Students Office, who will notify the Associate Dean of Academic Affairs for Engineering.

Faculty are expected to provide students with a course syllabus on the first day of class each semester, including course objectives, topical outlines, the expected performance for which grades will be assigned, a statement on the Honor System and its application to the particular course, the instructor's office hours and how he/she can be reached directly or through the department office during normal working hours, as well as the instructor's attendance policy and other policies if any.
