AOE Advising

Students have many decisions to make during their college careers. The relationship between advisor and advisee can be central in the decision-making process. Whether you are choosing an elective, changing your major, or planning for a career or graduate school, your advisors can be a valuable resource.
The Department of Aerospace and Ocean Engineering has created on its website the Advising Section to provide students with information on several aspects of their curriculum requirements. The content in this site is actively updated, so make sure to check this page often.
All students are required to earn minimum C- or better grades in all prerequisite courses for required AOE courses. This policy includes all AOE, ENGE, ESM, MATH, and ME courses listed as prerequisites for all required AOE courses. Students who do not earn a minimum C- in a course have the right to submit a petition for an appeal of the C- Policy.
  • Effective Fall 2005 Aerospace and Ocean Engineering C- Policy for all prerequisites
  • C- Petition form
  • The department has an undergraduate student advisor (Madhu Kapania) to help them deal with the routine advising questions about core requirements, prerequisites and career related information. So feel free to discuss your academic progress and career related questions with her.
