Research Interests

Plume Spacecraft Interactions

I am currently working on modeling ion thruster plumes and their interactions with spacecraft. This includes the backflow of charge-exchange ions, plasma contamination, material sputtering and spacecraft charging.

Code optimization

Even though computers are getting cheaper by the minute, faster computers are not always the answer. A large boost in performance can be obtained by reorganizing loops, changing memory data structure, etc..

Visualization / Online collaboration

I started developing an immersed, 3D visualization package called capVTE. Current work involves finishing the network interface and support for tracking headsets.

Life outside of research

Outdoors: hiking, backpacking, mountain-biking, etc...
Photography (the film kind)
Beer
