Undergraduate Teaching Laboratory
The Undergraduate Teaching Laboratory is located on the basement floor of
Randolph Hall in room 25. This newly renovated Laboratory is equipped with
the Open-Jet wind tunnel a 6"x6" water tunnel, a rotating tank facility,
smoke tunnel, equipment for the dynamic and static testing of simple
structures, and electronic instrumentation workstations. The water tunnel
includes a laser Doppler anemometer, used for undergraduate research and
experiments. This laboratory forms the focus of much of the lab work done in
AOE 3054 Experimental Methods (the required laboratory course for all AE or
OE Juniors), AOE 4154 (required for AE Seniors) and AOE 4254 (required for
OE seniors) and thus all undergraduate students get hands on experience of
this equipment. The lab is also equipped with USB based data acquisition
systems that students get to use with their own laptop computers to take
data and design their own experiments.
