In a longstanding effort to harmonize different damage stability requirements at IMO, the passenger and dry cargo ship assessment methodologies where put on the same basis. The new regulations that came into force early 2009 are presented here including changes and impact on design, and how to carry out respective calculations using the HECSALV design tool.
