Students must have had 2 years of a foreign language in high school or one year at the college level.

The "in-major GPA" consists of all courses taken under the AOE designation.

Students must pass all required courses and both the in-major and overall GPA must be at least 2.0 for graduation.

Only free electives and courses only offered on a Pass/Fail basis may be taken Pass/Fail.

136 CREDITS ARE REQUIRED FOR GRADUATION.

A minimum C- grade is required in all courses that are prerequisites to required AOE courses or are prerequisites of co-requisites to these courses.

AOE Satisfactory Progress Towards Degree

University Policy 91 outlines university-wide minimum criteria to determine whether students are making satisfactory progress towards the completion of their degrees. The AOE department fully supports the university policy. Specific expectations for satisfactory progress for Aerospace and Ocean Engineering majors are outlined below:
  • Each student must meet the minimum university-wide criteria as described in Policy 91 and summarized in the Undergraduate Course Catalog and Academic Policies Catalog.
    Additionally
  • After attempting 72 credit hours:
AE students must have satisfactorily completed AOE 2074 and AOE 3104
OE students must have satisfactorily completed AOE 2074 and AOE 3204
  • After attempting 98 credit hours:
AE and OE students must have satisfactorily completed 24 credit hours of in-major courses and have 2.0 overall and in-major GPAs
Students who are identified as not making satisfactory progress towards their degrees will be placed on academic probation by the College of Engineering and must comply with the College.s procedures for continued enrollment.

This standard was reviewed and approved by the AOE Faculty on February 9, 2007.
